Setting the Foundation: Why You're Not Losing Weight - Mindset
Motivation is a great contending element when beginning a weight loss journey, but it only makes up a small fraction of our success. There are more important factors that improve our chances of losing weight and sticking to a wellness program. While having motivation is a noteworthy element, we need more tools to entirely adhere to a wellness regimen. Motivation, whether intrinsic or extrinsic, is necessary to get us started but it isn't enough to keep us on track.
There are three foundational elements that will make you successful on a weight loss journey. To begin, I will focus on one of the three vital elements. The first foundational element is mindset. Having a changed mindset will prepare you for the journey ahead. Most people are looking for a quick fix with overnight results. We're searching for a pill that will make all the fat and fat cell counterparts disappear. You want the end result, tomorrow. This unrealistic mindset will not get you far, as you'll simply give up once the desired results aren't reached within your desired time frame.
Therefore, it's best that we approach our weight loss or wellness journey with a changed mindset. Stop having a short-term, quick-fix mentality and think long-term. There are many weight loss and wellness programs in the market, but all programs require a change in mindset to be successful. Many start weight loss programs, but few are successful due to their short-sighted mindset. Successful program adherence will require you to adjust your mindset in creating a healthier lifestyle change, so you won't repeat the cycle of finding more quick fixes and searching for your next "quick fix pill."
Before starting your next weight loss or health journey, check your mindset. Analyze your mindset and find ways to adjust if needed.
What are your thoughts? Have you stopped and started weight loss or wellness programs due to having a short-term mindset and not thinking long-term? How many weight loss programs have you started, then stopped, only to restart another program?
Think about your mindset as you approach your weight loss journey. In the next article, I will discuss the other two elements in establishing a solid foundation in your wellness journey.
Be true, be balanced, be well.
